    Hello,
I love your plugin and that’s why I use it on all the websites I create!

However, for a few days now, I have been facing a serious problem which I cannot solve.

I thought it’s appropriate to inform you because it is very likely that other users are facing the same problem.

On the websites where I have WPML installed so that the content is also available in other languages, SmartCrawl has been causing a problem for a few days now, and it is not possible to change from one language to another. This only happens on the home page of each webpage.

I tried many ways to solve it, but failed.

When I disable SmartCrawl then the problem is solved immediately. But when SmartCrawl is activated, then switching the language on the home page is impossible.

Please look into this issue as I’m sure you realize how serious it is.

    I remain at your service.

    Hi @nikoslefkas

    I hope you’re well today!

It is a serous issue indeed. We are actually already aware of it and so is WPML too.

Unfortunately, the only two “instant” workarounds at the moment are to either keep WordPress at version 6.3.2 or make a small change in SmartCrawl’s core files.

Both are not really recommended but since it’s critical I would suggest applying change in SmartCrawl’s plugin rather than downgrading WordPress.

This solution is already described on WPML site here:

    https://wpml.org/errata/smartcrawl-conflict-with-wordpress-6-4-causes-homepage-redirection-issues/

Our developers are also already preparing a permanent fix for this bug to be included in one of upcoming updates. I don’t have release version yet but I would expect it quite soon.

Once it’s added it will surely be outlined in plugin’s changelog here:

    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/smartcrawl-seo/#developers

so you may want to keep an eye on it upon nearest updates (before updating the plugin – because update would wipe-out the applied workaround).

I apologie for the trouble it’s causing. I believe it won’t take long to get it fixed in the plugin itself.

    Best regards,
    Adam

    Hi @nikoslefkas,

Hope this message finds you well.

As explained by Adam, our SmartCrawl devs did work diligently to fix this ASAP.

Version 3.8.2 has been released with the fix. Please update and let us know.

    Best regards,
    Laura
