    Hi,

I have some long videos with no sound (workouts). When the videos are played from a smartphone, the screen goes off after a couple of seconds (it doesn’t on YouTube for example). When videos have sound, the screen stays on until it finishes.

Is this a bug or I am missing something?

    Thanks

    Ho @prajnajogi,

I didn’t included the link because it is a membership website, however I created a page here: https://wpasap.co.uk/presto/ and I replicated the same issue.

Videos with no sound don’t stay on! The smartphone screen dims and turns off after a cople of second. The same don’t happen on youtube or vimeo direct embed videos.

This is quite urgent though as I already have 2.000 videos and customers complaining.

    Thanks

    Fatmir

@prajnajogi any solution to this bug yet?

@mirishehu we have investigated the issue, the behavior you’re experiencing depends on the phone settings that are configured to keep the screen on even when there’s no activity. When no activity is detected, the phone might automatically dim the screen.

Here are a few things you can check:

Power Saving Settings: Many smartphones have power-saving features that turn off the screen to save battery when no sound is detected during video playback. This is quite common, and you can usually adjust it in the settings.

System Settings: You can tweak the system settings to prevent the screen from turning off during video playback. Look under the display or battery settings on your device.

So, in short, this isn’t something the Presto Player player can control. But there are ways to prevent the screen from turning off by adjusting your phone’s settings.

Regarding the link you shared: https://wpasap.co.uk/presto/ The video which is marked as turning off after some time does not exhibit this behaviour on our end and plays without the screen turning off.

The simplest workaround is to adjust the smartphone’s screen sleep timer settings according to preference.

I hope this helps! If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
