    Hello

For a long time I had faced the problem of my website page design being distorted by a seemingly blank bar appearing at the bottom of every page. The bar was a different color from the footer and was looking odd. I did not have time to spend on debugging the issue so I left it as it is.

Recently I realised that the bar was not really blank but rather had a tiny smiley image on it. From here it was not tough to narrow it down to the Jetpack site stats feature.

Could you please disable the smiley image by default in the feature settings? It breaks the site theme and is very hard to isolate back to Jetpack and fix.

    Thanks

    Vijay

Hi Vijay! The smiley face is added by the Stats module, and is used to track visitors on your site.

We included an option that allows you to hide the smiley. To do so, please go to Jetpack > Settings in your Dashboard. Then click on “Configure” under the Stats module. There you will find an option to hide the smiley face.

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you for the prompt reply, Ryan :). Yes I am aware of the option and I have now disabled it. What I am asking is, can this option not be disabled by default? This is because from my experience I can vouch that it is very hard to trace down the page design distortion to this particular Jetpack smiley setting, because the smiley is not easily visible except upon close inspection.
