SMS Alerts & Mailing List Plug In

I am trying to get plug in’s to work for SMS alerts for my fans and also setting a email list with a plug in but everytime I install a SMS Message plug in or some others I get a error saying error 500 when I activate the plug in and then go to edit a page or soemthing. Please helP!
