SMS and MMS to new post

  • Anyone know of any plugins (or combination of plugins…) in which I could text message or picture message from my cell phone to a number or e-mail address which will automatically create a new post on my wordpress blog?

    Even if there’s nothing direct, for example, I know I can post via SMS or MMS to tumblr, but then I don’t know how to get those posts automatically over to wordpress. Or I can e-mail the SMS or MMS to an address, but then I don’t know how to create a new post from that e-mail.

  • WordPress already supports posting via email: Have a look under Options » Writing and there is a section there called Post by Email.

    There are plugins which provide more functions (like being able to add category selection to the post, etc.) but if it’s simple posting you want the WP built in should do it.

    As for SMS: I doubt it. You need somewhere for the messages to be stored to be picked up by WordPress, and you’d need to give that a SMS number recognizable by your provider.

    Embed the twitter profile in a sidebar widget and you are good to go for a continuously updated post.
