    In Utilities > SMTP Email Delivery

    It would be nice if the “FROM name” & “FROM email” overrides the wp_mail() functions as well

    By default, WordPress uses the FROM name “WordPress” and FROM email “[email protected]” when it sends notifications to users, if you do not use SMTP Email Delivery

    It would be great if the SMTP Email Delivery settings let you change the from email and the from name even if you do not input all the SMTP Email delivery information.

    @lcwilson18 thanks for the suggestion. However, with the custom from name / email, if it’s not via SMTP, the email may never reach the inbox, even if it does, it may end up in the spam folder… so, I’m not sure that’s going to be any solution at all… or, does your hosting provider can guarantee email deliverability without SMTP (or other email delivery solution, e.g. API)?

    That’s correct, but some people use PHPMailer and the wp_mail() function to send emails from the web hosting mail server out of the box for development, testing purposes and in some cases production depending on the functionality/purpose of the site.

    Without having to add an additional plugin or having to write some PHP to put in the functions file it would be nice if your plugin could override the default FROM name “WordPress” and FROM email “[email protected]”

    @lcwilson18 this is implemented in v5.2.10. Please update and test custom sender name / email without filling out SMTP service / account details.
