SMTP Error: Could not authenticate

  • Hello,
    I try to connect office 365 with
    SMTP Secure : STARTTLS
    on test mail I get this error:
    SMTP Error: Could not authenticate

    What can be the problem ?

  • If you are sure you login credentials are correct, contact your host and ask to update and enable to TLS v1.2 (Microsoft requirement).

    The Host advice was to use PhpMailer insted of and SMTP plugin

    Very intresting, so they blame the plugin.

    I recommend installing wp mail smtp.

    Can you PLEASE just update me if it worked for you?
