    Hi,

I’m experiencing an issue with MailPoet where the email sending is paused due to an SMTP error. The error message I’m receiving is as follows:

SMTP Error: data not accepted. Unprocessed subscriber: (***** ***** <****@*****.de>)

    Here are some key details:

    1. The issue is not related to a specific subscriber – it seems to occur across multiple attempts.
    2. I’ve sent a test email through the MailPoet settings, and it successfully arrived, so the SMTP configuration appears to be correct.
    3. The issue arises when sending regular emails to subscribers via MailPoet.
    4. My SMTP settings are configured properly (host, port, authentication, etc.), and I’m not exceeding any known SMTP limits.

I’ve checked the content of the email and the list of subscribers, but I’m not sure what could be causing this error. Any help or guidance on how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out and for the thorough description of the issue!

In general, if sending is paused when MailPoet encounters an invalid email address (i.e.: an unprocessed subscriber), it means that for some reason SMTP is rejecting these invalid email addresses and returning an error classified as a hard error.

As there is no bounce handling out of the box unless you are using our MailPoet Sending Service, you have to delete the subscriber and then resume sending.

You can find out more about issues when sending with SMTP here.

If deleting the subscriber doesn’t fix it, I recommend checking with your third-party sending method if it will be an issue when your From address doesn’t match your SMTP username as mentioned here: https://www.courier.com/error-solutions/smtp-error-data-not-accepted/

    I hope this helps!

    Kind regards,
