    Hey Bowo!
I having an issue with the SMTP “from” side. Everything else works but for some reason when I received the email it doesn’t show the “from” email I wanted. It only shows, for example, [email protected] instead of my custom email “[email protected]”.

Currently, I am using the WP Mail SMTP because the “from” email works. Can you help me with this? Thanks

@scarlywebs thanks for reporting. However, I’m unable to replicate the issue on a couple of my test sites using gmail as the SMTP host.

Can you install Debug Log Manager, enable logging there and then click “Enable debug mode and output the debug info into WordPress debug.log file” in the SMTP Email Delivery settings in Admin and Site Enhancements. Then, do a test send using WP Email Test.

Please copy the debug log entries here.

Another route to try is to disable all other plugins and leave Admin and Site Enhancements and WP Email Test active, and do another test send. There’s a chance that another plugin is overriding the ‘From’ settings in the SMTP Email Delivery module, and resetting it to the default WP core settings, which maybe why you’re seeing emails being sent from [email protected]. It’s designed to be overridable as such.

Hey Bowo thanks for the reply, I didn’t understand the whole debug instructions but I did disable temporarily all my plugins besides the Admin and Site Enhancements and the sent email plugin you recommended, but I still had the same problem.

Would be possible to create enforce option? For instance, the plugin I told you I use for SMTP has a “Force from email” option.

Also want to mention that i am using a SMTP provider “SendinBlue ( Brevo )” as my provider, don’t know if they change those email values automatically or not.

    Hello,

    That happens to me too.

I write my email [email protected] in the FROM field, but in the email sent it appears [email protected].

Is there any chance to try another way?

I have disabled all my plugins but it still does the same.

    Saludos.

@scarlywebs @boomerangz I’ve just pushed v5.0.2.4 which fixed an issue with SMTP Email Delivery module. Please update and re-enter your SMTP password and save changes. Let me know if that fixes the issue you’re experiencing.

Hey @qriouslad thanks for the update, unfortunately, though it’s still saying [email protected] instead of [email protected]. I did follow your instructions and re-input my password but to no avail. I also tried deactivating the plugin and reactivating it to see if maybe might help but still nothing lol.

@scarlywebs @boomerangz I think I’ve found the root cause of the bug and have fixed it.

@scarlywebs I’ve also added a “force usage of FROM name/email” feature per your suggestion, in case the default option does not work for some reason, or you simply need to override what other plugins are setting for the FROM name/email.

Please update to v5.1.0 and test. Let me know how it goes.

Thank you @qriouslad , just tested it everything works now! I used the force option since the default wasn’t working for me before.

@scarlywebs great to hear that! Thanks for your help with testing all the way!

    Hi @qriouslad

    Thanks for solving it.

I will test your plugin again when you can add an option to test the sending of emails (like Test email: [“[email protected]”] <Enter>)

Thanks and regards. Very good work!
