• Resolved stammnetworks

    (@stammnetworks)

    ello Oliver,

we ahve serious trouble establishing mail flow within your Plugin. As my mailserver (as all other servers in world will do also) is requiring SASL Auth. No problem as long as php will accept my cert provided. (It is a Letsencrypt one….) I have tested this woth SMTP Mailer Plugin as well and came to the point, that your Class accessing phpmailer will not work properly. Can you please provide a workaround for that?

Here testing results from SMTP Mailer Plugin:

    Connection: opening to mail.stamm-networks.de:587, timeout=300, options=array ( ‘ssl’ => array ( ‘verify_peer’ => false, ‘verify_peer_name’ => false, ‘allow_self_signed’ => true, ),)

    a couple of things
    a) please wrap code in code tags
    b) wppizza runs on 1000’s of sites sending 10000’s of emails every day. (would be quite a useless plugin if it didn’t as nobody would get any orders )
    c) if you – seemingly – have issues with the “SMTP Mailer Plugin”, should you not be contacting the author of that plugin instead ?!
    d) just at a quick glance, you simply have authentication credential issues 535 5.7.8 Error: authentication failed , i.e you are simply supplying the wrong credentails. no plugin will be able to fix that for you
    e) lastly, and just for my own entertainment, i actually installed the “SMTP Mailer Plugin” on one of my test installs here and it works just fine (on both fronts, wppizza and “SMTP mailer”)

in fact, i will mark this as resolved as your “problem” as you describe it refers to a completely different plugin

    Hello Oliver,

I am pretty sure that credentials will be working correctly. I have typed and pasted the credentials for several times. Nevertheless the SMTP Mailer Plug-in should be a reference to yours. I have tested both and came to the point that both will have similar behavior while using the correct credentials. The SASL Auth will not be performed correctly. This is a bug regarding PHP and can be fixed simply disabling the cert validation. (My perspective) can you please provide PHP version of the testing environment? How can I disable cert validation within your phpmail class?

    Regards
    Carsten

err, no. that’s an error message that tells you that your setup has errors, conveniently provided to you by wppizza for you so you can investigate and fix it – i.e it’s not an error in the plugin itself

    more importantly the line
    SMTP Error: Could not authenticate.
tells you exactly the same as the as what your other plugin does
i.e your authentication credentials are not being accepted.
