I was receiving email notifications a few months ago, but they’ve stopped coming. I don’t know what happened. I have 5 forms on my site, and they’re all set up to receive notifications (in the Settings via each form). I also have wp-includes/pluggable set up as well as PHP.Mailer in my back-end (File Manager).

I don’t have the WP SMTP plugin installed because it wants me to get a paid subscription with SendGrid, etc, and I can’t afford that.

I’d much handle this issue with applying code.

Please help me get this working again.

    Thanks!

Well, I got the WP SMPT plugin installed and working. But can anyone tell me why I stopped receiving notifications to begin with?

    Thanks.

    Hi @amberdaultonauthor,

    Thanks for reaching!

If your site has sending emails with PHPMailer, and this service stopped, we recommend you reach out to your hosting provider support to share about the issue. They should be able to help you get this sorted out.

Also, as different ISPs and email service providers use different factors as metrics to filter spam or block emails, some email addresses may receive the notification email, while some do not. The best way that we know to improve email deliverability would be to use an SMTP plugin to configure the website to send authenticated emails.

We recommend you give one of the SMTP options listed in our guide here a shot. Please know that guide list some free options.

WPBeginner also has a great guide with more details on the issue as well as other great alternatives, in case you’d like more details.

    I hope this helps!

    Hi @amberdaultonauthor,

We haven’t heard back from you in a few days, so I’m going to go ahead and close this thread for now. But if you’d like us to assist further, please feel welcome to continue the conversation.

    Thanks!
