SMTP problems and possible fix

  • Because of the server security settings I had to use SMTP for all WP communication. For this purpose I’m using plugin Configure SMTP.

    After setting everything up all other plugins could send emails through SMTP except Subscribe To Comments Reloaded.

    What I did – changed the email address of the WP Admin account to one that was configured for the SMTP, but that didn’t help either.

    I decided to deactivate Subscribe To Comments Reloaded and then reactivate again. So I don’t know at this point what helped, but this plugin now sends emails normally through SMTP.

    Posting just to let others know in case of problems what steps you could try.
