SmugMug galleries provide a link/icon/handle on each photo to download that photo.

This doesn’t seem to transfer through to the photos displayed through Photonic. Am I overlooking something in the shortcode that allows the download photo icon in embedded galleries?

A download link is the functionality of a lightbox, not Photonic itself (or even of the service provider, for that matter). The only lightbox bundled with Photonic that supports downloading out of the box is Lightgallery. If you use it, users will be able to download the displayed photos.

Bear in mind that Photonic is not “inserting” a SmugMug gallery – it is instead displaying the SmugMug photos on your website so that your WP-based site’s branding and other elements are preserved. That is why the effects you see on SmugMug’s (or Flickr’s or Picasa’s) websites are not going to be reflected on your site, rather only the photos and albums are going to be shown. In every case, a right click on a photo lets users download a photo, just like regular images on the web do.
