    Hello Hello!

    I love your plugin. Is it already possible to use the TOC with a SNIPPET?
    That would allow us to place the TOC where ever we want, just by adding the SNIPPET into the HTML code.

    There are several other free snippet plugins out there. However, I can’t just copy any of your code? right? I mean, to make this work.

    Sorry, I am not a programmer!

    Thank you so much for any little help and it would be so cool to place the TOC with a snippet feature. Keep rocking!

    When you say “snippet” do you mean shortcode? If that is correct, please read this reply to another user in the support forum regarding the shortcodes.

    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/ez-toc-or-toc-doesnt-display-anything/#post-9982200

    You can use [ez-toc] of [toc] but you must follow the instructions in my other reply.

    Hope that helps!

    yes, I followed your instructions.
    However, if I try to use the [ez-toc] or the [toc] within my HTML code, it just doesn’t work.

    Here is my test-page:
    https://bit.ly/2CPmhYE

    when activating the TOC, it just automatically appears on top of the image.
    I inserted the short-code, but they don’t work.

    any thoughts on that?

    Please share a screenshot of the Settings : Table of Contents admin page and the screenshot of the Table of Contents metabox on the test page. Also include a screenshot showing the shortcode usage within the post body with the editor in the Text tab.

    Thanks!

    Hello shazahm1!

    just wanted to follow up and see if you had a chance to test the shortcode.
    I tried it all what you suggested, but unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to work.

    Thank you so much for any little help, appreciate it!

    @kreativito

    You should use only [toc] or [ez-toc], not both.

    Also, I see that you are using the SiteOrigin Editor vs the core WP Post Editor. That could be affecting the results. Please edit the page with the WP Post Editor instead to see if that resolved the placement issue.

    Ok. I tested another page. I found the issue.
    It looks like the SiteOrigin Editor doesn’t pick up the TOC Shortcode.

    I do have almost 200 pages. All of them are built with the SiteOriginEditor.
    I can’t change them anymore.

    Isn’t there any possible workaround that your TOC-Shortcode would also work using SiteOriginEditor?

    I just love your TOC Plugin. I think it’s simple the best and would love to make it work on my website. just need to find a way to use the toc-shortcode within the siteOrigin Editor.

    Thank you so much for all your help & keep rocking!
    I really do appreciate that!!!!

    The best I can tell after doing a bit of searching is that SiteOrigin Editor does not store the page “build” in the same place as WordPress stores the page content. ezTOC is only compatible with the post content so it might not be easily possible to get the two working together. You may have to raise the issue with their support channel.

    One other thing you could try… instead of using the shortcode, it appears the SiteOrigin Editor allows you to use widgets. Try using the the TOC widget instead.

    Hope that helps, let me know.

    Hi kreativito,

    Alex from SiteOrigin here. ??

    I just tried to us EzTOC in a SiteOrigin Editor widget and it worked without issue for me. To clarify, is EzTOC working for you on a non-Page Builder powered page? If not, please ensure you’ve enabled it in the Table Of Contents metabox.

    If it’s working on a normal page, would it be possible for you to send me an export for a page where you’ve tried to use EzTOC on? To do this please open up the linked page in the editor and click the Layout button in the Page Builder toolbar. Then click import/export and then click download. Please upload the export to a 3rd party file hosting site such as teknik.io.

    @kreativito, please don’t offer to send or post logon credentials on these forums:

    You can contact the author on their own site and, once there, the discussion is between the two of you. However, it is not OK to enter or send site credentials on these forums. So I installed SiteOrigin Editor and its widgets and then imported your layout into a new page. I also matched the settings shown in your screencast.

    The results…

    ezTOC functioned correctly. I could use the shortcode to control the placement of the TOC.

    Perhaps it is a combination of plugins causing the trouble. My suggestion is to deactivate all plugins except ezTOC and the SiteOrigin plugins and see if that has a positive effect. If it does, activate plugin one at a time until the issue occurs then let me know what that plugin is.

    If deactivating all other plugins does not correct the issue, please temporarily switch the theme to TwentySeventeen to see if the issue persist.

    Let me know what you learn.

    @steve:
    I would not post my login data on the forum so everyone could login to my WP account. Nope. Instead, I would only send it directly to the person I want to give access. But I asked if they would like to have access – I did not ask others to post their email. I guess that makes a significant difference.??

    @shazahm1:
    Thank you, I really appreciate your help. I’ll try to test this weekend again turning off all other plugins and see if there is one plugin that might cause this conflict. I’ll keep you posted!
