Hi. I tried to update the description of an old blog post and I noticed that the snippet preview disappeared. The tabs Social and Advanced are still there and are ok (i.e. populated with the right data).

The source code of that page still shows the description, therefore this piece of information is there but it’s me the one who can’t see it.

I checked the other similar threads from this forum, but it seems my problem is different: all the other blog posts from my blog have the full metabox visible, including the snippet preview.

So it doesn’t look like a pattern, only one blog post has that problem. Weird, isn’t it?

Any idea on what caused this behavior and how I can fix it?

    Thanks.

    Hi,

I guess I have a similar problem: One some, but only some pages the snippet can not be edited.

I already installed the plugin again, but the issue is still there.

Please check the browser console for JavaScript errors.

How to find JavaScript errors with your browsers console?

I checked this possible issue both on Firefox 51.0.1 and Chrome 56.0.2924.87 and there doesn’t seem to be any JS errors.

I got this type of result:

JQMIGRATE: Migrate is installed, version 1.4.1

The Yoast SEO meta box relies on JavaScript to perform all its tasks. If JavaScript is disabled, blocked or detects a conflict, you may see a blank or semi-blank box.

Please try the additional suggestions here: Yoast SEO meta box is blank

That’s the answer you posted on similar but not identical threads. I already read it and checked that article before posting my request.

But if it helps you to help me, then here are the answers related to that article:

    1) Javascript is disabled:

Impossible. Yoast SEO meta boxes for other posts from the same blog are fully visible.

    2) There is a JS error:

You suggested it in your previous answer, I replied to it and told you that there’s no error on latest versions of Chrome and Firefox (my answer is right before your last reply)

    3) Avast is blocking Yoast SEO:

I don’t use Avast. Windows 10 includes Windows Defender and that’s what I use.

Recap of the issue that I already mentioned that is different from similar issues detected on other threads from this forum:

Yoast SEO meta box is not fully visible – snippet preview not visible and editable – on ONE SINGLE post (the blog post mentioned in the original request). All the other posts I checked (from the same blog) have the meta box visible and editable.

    Thank you for recapping.

What makes that single post different than the other posts on your site? Does it use a shortcode or custom code?
If you recreate the post (copy/paste piece by piece into a new draft), does the new copy have the same issue?
If you log in as a different user, does the metabox work?

Hi Angi. From the very beginning I asked myself what makes that single post different but the answer was this one: nothing special on that post that isn’t used somewhere else on the same blog.

However I didn’t consider the idea of recreating it. I did it now and that draft didn’t have the same issue. Then I asked myself why and suddenly I noticed and remembered what was different…

While the post itself has nothing special, the web page has something special – the sidebar isn’t used anywhere else on that blog, it’s a sidebar only for that post.

While that sidebar has nothing special in comparison with other sidebars from the same blog, the way it’s created is special. I use the same sidebar for each post from a certain category (& different sidebars for different categories), but for that particular blog post I don’t use the sidebar related to its category. That makes it special.

I disabled the special sidebar and the snippet was back. I edited the description of the post (= my initial goal that made me discover the issue) and then I enabled the sidebar back.

The problem is solved. Thank you very much for all your help!
