So many new users? Spambots?

    Just wondering, I installed WP User a while ago but my site isn’t really online. Suddenly I get plenty of new users (Authors by default). They don’t do anything, but I doubt they are legit. Spambots I guess…?

    What is that about?

    Now I made the ‘Description’ mandatory and will delete all users that are not on site topic.

    Other than that – nice plugin!

    Update:
    I made the ‘Description’ mandatory – but still got a few new users without description. I guess they do not use WP User registration page and have another way to get into WP.

    Will keep monitoring that.

    You might want to make sure that you’re using the recaptcha addon https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wpum-recaptcha/ and also make sure that your wp-login.php registration form is locked down.

    Update:

    1.) wp-login.php registration form is and was locked

    2.) I installed wpum-recaptcha – it’s working – but has no effect, I still get ‘fake’ users

    The WP User Manager registration is working though, the Captcha works, and the mandatory description works – I can’t register without description – however, the bots can.

    I am a bit puzzled by that.

    Can I request a email/domain/ip blocked? so i can ban users who attend to register via some domains like *mail.ru or *solidmail.com for example
