Social buttons and htaccess

  • Hi,

    first of all thanks for the great plugin. I use it since some days and really love it. But I have found one problem, which surprises me a bit.

    I have created an .htaccess file to protect my wp-admin folder (or in general I want to protect the loginscreen to the dashboard for brute force attacks). But when I try to use one of the social buttons of the plugin, to share my post on Facebook for example, I get the htaccess file login window. This looks like the plugin is sending a request or tries to access somewhere to the wp-admin folder. Why does it do that and how can I get it work with the .htaccess file? Any Idea?
    Would be great, to get a response on that, because I think using .htaccess on wp-admin folder is a common way to protect the WordPress blog from hackers.

    Hi waldjunge.

    Thats strange, does it happen with other social share plugins? I think the issue is with ajax, which is in wp-admin folder and which is being called during saving of social counts, so try disabling social counts first.

    Hi Goran,

    thanks for your reply. I have tried other social share plugins and didn’t have that trouble. I also tried to deactivate the share count, but didn’t help. There must be an other ajax call to wp-admin, when sharing a post.
