    PardonMyPoppet,

I have made some adjustments to the Linked-In functionality.
Update to the 0.7.1 release and input your full Public Profile URL into the admin field.

Let me know if that solves your problem.

Thank you for replying. No it has not made any difference.

Fatal error: Call to a member function children() on a non-object in /misc/27/146/939/502/4/user/web/social-i.net/marketschools/wp-content/plugins/social-crowd/social_crowd.php on line 218

Still the same error message. It is a shame as it is such a good looking and useful plugin.

I’ve turned off the option for youtube in the configuration settings for the meantime and it seems to be working. Thanks

    Sellarsc,

one other option may be to doublecheck your youtube username and make sure it is correct. that could be an issue, I haven’t found any other issues with the code…

    Let me know…

    Hi,
    I also have a problem:
I installed Social Crowd and it worked very good. To test it I used an other facebook profile. Meanwhile I changed it into the final facebook profile, but the Plugin is still showing the amount of fans of the first Facebook profile

I am now trying the social crowd widget on another of my wordpress sites. This time I do not get an error for youtube, but it does not pull in any stats. It also does not pull in any stats for Facebook, though it seems to be working fine for twitter and google+.
Any idea why it cannot get stats for Facebook? I have tried the id number and the vanity id with no joy. It is anything to do with the new facebook pages timeline? Is there any code I could change to get the facebook like stats to work? https://www.themathsfactorblog.com The widget is on the front page there.
    Here’s hoping you can help.

    eispeter,
So as to avoid slowing down your site on load, and not abusing the social networks that you are displaying stats from, there is an update interval which is set in the plugin administrator, the minimum setting is to check every 15minutes, also there is another setting for “update type” which if set to maximum will only display the highest number of fans/followers/friends etc.. for that social network, whereas the “current” setting displays the actual number of contacts for that given network. I hope that answers your question, and I would assume that your stats are updated correctly now.

    sellarsc,
I think I’ve figured out what is going on with the youtube stats, hopefully will have a fix pushed out for that soon.

On the facebook stats, double check your vanity id, when I try to go to your facebook page facebook gives me a message that the page cannot be found.

Let me know if that helps with the facebook issue.

Thanks for the reply to my query about the Facebook stats not showing up, when the Twitter and Google+ ones did. You said it was an incorrect vanity id but that is not the case. The vanity id is correct. If you hover over the facebook link it displays the correct address. If you right mouse click to force it to open in a new browser or tab, it does take you to our facebook.com/mathsfactor page. However just clicking on the link does nothing in Chrome and in Firefox.
It is a mystery as Facebook stats worked on two of my other wordpress sites … I do wonder if it is something to do with the new Facebook pages. Anyone else had this problem?

    sellarsc,
Not sure what is happening with your facebook vanity ID, I cannot pull it up directly or in search results on facebook. Was the vanity ID just set up recently? maybe it has not made it’s way all through the facebook system yet?

But when I did a search for “maths factor” on facebook, I got the following page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Maths-Factor/183700148382, and using the id at the end of that url 183700148382, returns the correct results with the plugin.

    Checking on the clicking issue.

Thanks for looking at it again but that is not our Facebook page. Ours is https://www.facebook.com/mathsfactor which has 432 likes and is well established. The page you found is nothing to do with us. However I tried it in social crowd to see if it would work and it wouldn’t. I wish I could put something in to give the illusion of it working.

Don’t worry I have figured out how to manually add the stats by editing the php. Cheating I know but it looks so lovely. I have no idea why it wasn’t working. I seems so random, pulling in some stats but not others. The link to Facebook, YouTube and Feedburner all work but the stats did not. Twitter and Google plus work fine and pull in the stats. Weird.
If you figure it out let me know. In the meantime I will just keep changing the figures every now and then.

I also got the same error as sellarsc with a brand new install of WP, and my host has confirmed that cURL is installed.

The problem seemed to be caused by the Social Crowd IDs in wp-admin/options-general.php?page=social-crowd/social_crowd.php
not being retained if you enter the whole url as advised by the field tooltips. When you return to the page, the urls have been truncated.

But if you just enter the ID part of your network urls, they are saved properly and the output seems to work.
