Hi, I am trying to come over from Yoast and I create a image sized for Facebook as well as one for Twitter in addition to the post image that I use as a feature. This is separate from the global social settings. Every post has it’s own image. I can only see the place in the post edit to add a Facebook image and no Twitter one. Is this correct?

    Hi @adamx8,

    This is correct.

The set image is used for both Facebook and Twitter. In the edit box you can sometimes see an alternative URL that’s being used as a fallback image.

They roughly use the same dimensions so the image will look almost the same (with two pixels in width difference):

    Facebook: 1200/630 = 1200/630 = 1.9048 ratio
    Twitter : 600/314 = 1200/628 = 1.9108 ratio

    More info regarding image selection
The image selection cropper tool also provides this recommended ratio by default, it’s the dotted outline you can drag around when selecting an image.

    More control is planned
In the future I’ll provide a free extension that adds more granular control.
    See GitHub issue 64:

If you wish to gain more granular control, an extension that allows you to do so is planned.
That extension will require TSF 2.9.0 (planned Feb/March… or later) as it requires tabular control in the post SEO settings.

The tabular control is currently being worked on.

I hope this clears things up!

Thank you for the reply. I wasn’t sure if I was seeing it correctly. I have a bunch of social images designed for each platform as I stated, but I use different dimensions. By going by this guide https://sproutsocial.com/insights/social-media-image-sizes-guide/:

    Facebook: 1200px x 630px (Shared Image, or 1200 x 627 shared link)
    Twitter: 1024px x 512px

I also do them for the other platforms too, but Yoast limited me to FB & Twitter so I just do them now.

Either way, I appreciate the possibility in the future. This is the one feature I had been using the most over the last couple years. If it comes to the Framework then that is exciting for sure.

The tabular control is done (it’s in beta)! ??
So, I think we can see these features being worked on soon enough, I expect it to become a reality in the 3rd or 4th quarter of this year.

Please note that those pixels are guidelines, and that both platforms can resize or crop any exceeding images. The outer and inner limits of the set dimensions are very different.

Nevertheless, I do understand that more granular control for these images, descriptions and titles are something definitely wished for by many (including myself).

I will be looking forward to the addition! I realize they crop and resize as well. I just decided to stick to that standard and design them as a standard for each post. I have no idea if that is normal for most people, but I doubt it. I just know that social media gives me 80%+ of all my traffic so I mind the numbers.

I appreciate the reply and I hope others would want the same thing. Have a great day/night!
