• I’ve noticed the social icons open the links on the same window, and I would like it to open on a new tab, so that people won’t leave my website just to check my twitter feed…. how can I do this?

    Hello!

Opening social links in a new tab is a bit tricky, but definitely possibly. You’ll want to read through this tutorial about setting up your social links using a custom menu.

Let us know if you have any more questions.

    the tutorial is not helping…

    Where are you getting stuck?

So there is no other way other than setting up a costum menu?
That’s kind of odd… I mean, it’s great to be able to send readers/visitors to other social profiles and such, but the whole idea is for people to stay on my website….
That, and the costum menu doesn’t have any visual effect. Though the effect on the default menu is quite simple, it’s kinda nice too, and it’s a shame to lose it…

We have a fix that will make this much, much easier coming out very, very, very soon if you can just hold tight a little longer. ??

I’m running the current make theme and have the same problem/Question. even through a customized social menu, there is no option to open new tabs if you click on one of the links.
Which .php is responsible for the social link section and where exactly do I have to insert target="_blank" into the code?

    Cheers, Mike

    Hi Mike,

We have a tutorial that details how to do this in our theme documentation.

Basically you’ll create a custom menu and just check the boxes to target the links in a new tab/window.

    I hope that helps!
