    Hello,

Quick question: how do the social logins (namely Fb) work? Does it create a token and link it to the Fb username and then check if the user is signed each time? In other words, will it be a seamless login each time or just the first time but if they change their Fb password later on, will break the connection?

I hope this question makes sense.

Lastly, can I retrieve specific details from their profile such as date of birth?

    Many thanks

    Hi,

Social networks never share the passwords of the users (if they do, who would want to use social login. Don’t you think?). Social Login simply allows our plugin to access user’s basic profile data. Then our plugin checks if that user already exists at your website or not. If it does, plugin logs in that user to the existing account, else it creates a new user at the website.
In short, social login won’t get affected by users changing the passwords of their social media accounts.
Date of birth is not included in the basic profile data that our plugin fetches. If you need this profile field, drop an email at support[at]heateor[dot]com so that we can customize the plugin according to your needs.

    Hi,

Many thanks for the super fast reply!

Yes I understand social networks would never give their users’ passwords, that would be a massive problem.

    Last questions:

    1. Will users then be able to change their details (e.g. email, name etc) in WP without breaking the connection and keep using the social login in the future?

    2. Do future logins work seamlessly or does the user have to authorise or do something specific on each future login?

Again, many thanks for the quick replies!

    1. Yes, users can change their details from profile page of your website without breaking the social login, as the profile they are updating is in the database of your website.
    2. Users have to authorize the social login app (that you would create to get API Key, secret etc.) only once, when they use Social Login first time.

Mucha suerte.
