Social Media Feather posting wrong picture to Facebook

  • Unfortunately facebook in certain cases is a bit picky and annoying in the way it chooses images. Using Open Graph tags should fix it though, so maybe search for a plugin that adds those tags appropriately.

    Can you elaborate on this more? I have found a few Open Graph plugins such as NextGen Facebook Open Graph Plugin but I’m not really sure what to do with it.

    My specific problem is when I go to share a post on Facebook, instead of using the featured image of the post it will use an ad that is in that post’s sidebar.

    The problem is facebook has abandoned the GET parameters API for passing in this info and exclusively relies on their own Open Graph tags. “NextGen Facebook Open Graph” I’m assuming is NextGEN specific, you’d need to find something that does this for the featured images in your post.

    Unfortunately this goes beyond what SMF was designed to do and providing this functionality would be quite time consuming and open up to potential other issues.
