Social Media Icon "Email"

    Hi,
    another issue:
    When using the Social Media Icon “Email” the only possibility is to enter an email address there.

    I have two problems with this:
    1. I did not find any plugin that obfuscates the email in the header of a wordpress site, so that address will definitely be spammed.
    2. I’d like to link from that icon to a contact formular instead but I don’t have a clue how to do that

    I already tried to hack around a bit, but I did not even find the code that validates the input in the customization field in the admin area.

    Could you point me into the right direction?

    Sascha,

    We decided to only allow email addresses for that icon, but you’re right about it getting spammed. I will completely obfuscate it in a future update.

    What you could do is copy the “header.php” file into a child theme. Then, you could replace the social icon function with the markup for the icons you want used. This way, you could add the email icon and link it wherever you’d like.

    Right now, the social icons are output in a function that isn’t “hookable”. They’ll be easier to update in the next version of Tracks.
