Social media icon graphic not showing

Same issue to previous thread: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/social-media-icons-not-showing-in-widget but solution offered did not work.

Social sharing icons show normally on individual blog posts, but not on the blog index. See image: https://tinypic.com/r/3532ys9/9

Have added custom css as suggested:

@media all{
.site-footer-widgets .widget_wpcom_social_media_icons_widget .genericon {
    font-family: Genericons !important;
}
}

But issue remains.
