social media icons not showing in twentysixteen

hi there,

i have created social menu with links to youtube, twitter and linkedin on localhost wordpress install v 5.3.2. issue is that social media icons not showing up – only navigation label text is showing. the issue appears to have started after after i upgraded to wp v 5.3.2.

in my original markup (please see link the my site attached) in the footer i am using font awesome icons.

question: how can i achieve the same look of the icons as in my orignal markup?
