I changed the image in the SEO settings for Social Media. In case of sharing the url with a “/” at its end, it displays the new one. If one puts the url without a “/” at the end, it displays the old one.

Is this a bug, or do I miss a setting?

    Hello!

Social networks create a cached response for every URL shared, and they hold onto this cache for a few days. This cache prevents your site from getting bombarded with (image-)requests when a link goes viral, where they directly serve your site’s social metadata from their servers instead.

The social network you used differentiated between the slashed and unslashed URLs. In a few days, it should sync up (if it hasn’t already).

Facebook allows you to purge caches via their Sharing Debugger, LinkedIn’s version is called Post Inspector, but other social networks and messenger apps do not provide tools. For Twitter, you’d want to change the URL of the image and share the link to it again — though this trick might’ve changed since Elon took charge.

I hope this clears things up. Cheers!
