    Hi great plugin!

Can you advise on setting up the facebook app id please? I have gone through to the developers and created an app, but don’t know which Product Setup to choose

    Hi @scottdoel,

    Thanks!

The App ID allows for sharing buttons, like buttons, and much more Facebook related stuff.
All you require is a matching domain name and an App ID.

To get an App ID, follow these steps:

    1. Go to: https://developers.facebook.com/apps
    2. Hit “+ Add a New App”
    3. Fill in your chosen App nice-name
    4. Fill in your email address
    5. Select a site general category (ignore first 2 options).
    6. You’re done!

Now you can set up your app within the Basic Settings menu. There you require to add platforms (i.e. website).

    Additional steps:
If that’s set up, at the top right of the Website platform, you’ll see Quick Start.
There you can set up like buttons, social plugins, login through Facebook, and ads.

The app itself also allows for a connection to a Facebook page; which in effect allows linking-to whenever an URL of your site is shared.

When you’re done, you can request a review. When your App passes the review, it will become public and all benefits will henceforth apply.

@scottdoel,It can be confusing as the Facebook UI has everything “nestled” under the App rubric. Clearly in this case, there isn’t an “App.”

I think about “Adding A New App” as really meaning authorization for access, selecting type of access (e.g., platform, protocol, API, etc.)

The add a new app ends up being important for many ‘non’ App activities. E.g., if you ever want to setup Facebook Instant Articles you will need repeat the process that @cybr details above

If you want to automate importing of Facebook Ad spends into an analytics program, authorization and setup will also be required (e.g., setting up another ‘non’ App
