    I came to ask about setting up the social menu but figured it out just now so I’ll post here as fyi. Under Appearance>Menus, choose (Social Menu). Add Custom Link putting an url to your facebook page, google+ page etc and under css class, use font awesome code. fa-facebook for facebook etc. You can go to font-awesome’s website to look up these codes. This social menu goes at the bottom of the footer along with the copyright under the footer widgets. Navigation Label won’t show on the front end so you can put anything in there or leave it blank in which case wp willautomatically put Menu Item in there. Would probabl be best to put facebook etc in there in case the font-awesome icon doesn’t show someda for some reason.

    Greetings…You should not have to put any CSS class into the menu link setting as your social icon will show up based on the URL you enter in your Custom Link URL field. The theme’s own style.css has all this setup already, which incidentally is how the Twenty Fifteen theme does it. I should mention that this theme uses the “Genericons” font icons for this and not Font Awesome. Or were you wanting to use Font Awesome instead?

    Did you experience icons not showing up when you made your social menu?

    Ok, cool. I put the url and fa-facebook in at the same time but just now removed the class and see that the icon is still there so that works. No having to look up fa codes.

    Ah..thanks for pointing that out. I just updated that tutorials to point to the social networking tutorial.
