I am interested in getting the “Social Meta Fields” functioning on my site. However, I don’t know what “Meta Key” is needed to make this work. In the DUD settings, the list of “WordPress Meta Key Names” I saw nothing to indicate a meta key for the available social sites (below).

    Facebook Meta Key Name
    Twitter Meta Key Name
    LinkedIn Meta Key Name
    Google+ Meta Key Name
    Pinterest Meta Key Name
    Instagram Meta Key Name

A quick search resulted in an overwhelming amount of information, and there are no other hints on the DUD settings page to point me in the right direction.

I don’t know if a “standard” meta key is needed, or if it is a custom meta key. As a result, I am not sure what to look for. Any suggestions on how I should be able to get these Social Meta Fields active for the site?

    Hi mehtuus,

You’ll first need to create the desired social media input fields on your WordPress registration page. You can do this using your preferred membership or contact form plugin (such as User Registration or BuddyPress, for example).

The meta keys for these fields should show up in the Meta Key Names listbox on the DUD settings page. You can then copy and paste those key names into the appropriate input fields under the “Social Media Fields” section of the settings page. The icons will then be shown in the directory.

    Hope that helps!

    Regards,
    Sarah

That does help, thank you. I am checking into my options now.

I think there should be a quick note in the plugin itself to nudge people in the right direction.
