• I’m soliciting recommendations for social plugins with clean, efficient code, that load in footer and do not slow page speed. Which are the best?

Depends on what you’re exactly looking for but I’m fine with “Tweet, Like, Google +1 and Share” and “Facebook Social Widgets”.

@AllyV4- Thanks- Tweet, Like, Google +1 and Share looks sweet. I’ll check it out.

Looking for something with a clean professional appearance. Currently using sexybookmarks, which can add FB and Google+1 buttons, but prefer to have all buttons in one place. Also need to be able to exclude certain pages, which SBM can do.

Apparently Sharethis does not easily exclude pages. Tried Slick Social Share Buttons, but not pleased with page speed impact. Tried Add Twitter, Facebook Like, Google plus one Social share but did not like functionality.

Sexybookmarks is still the performance winner when used with W3 Total Cache. I checked out the following 3 plugins by sudipto/Let Us Buzz:

Tweet, Like, Google +1 and Share:

Nice plugin, loads in footer and can exclude specific pages, posts, but lowers my Page Speed score 3 points.

Scrolling Twitter Like Google +1 Linkedin and Stumbleupon:

Super, super cool, but does not load in footer, cannot exclude pages and lowers page speed 5 points.

Scrolling Social Sharebar (Twitter Like Google +1 Linkedin and Stumbleupon):

Another pretty plugin, but again, does not load in footer, cannot exclude pages and lowers page speed.

Slick Social Share Buttons loads all code, including jQuery code in the page footer

@remix4- Your Slick Social Share Buttons is a really nice plugin, and I like that one can use categories to exclude certain pages, but for me, even with W3TC activated, I get lower page speed and yslow scores than with sexybookmarks, related to expires and/or compression. My test site gets a 97-98 page speed score using sexybookmarks and w3tc. With Slick Social Bookmarks and w3tc it dropped to 92-93.

AddToAny loads asynchronously and you can fine-tune the placement:

SexyBookmarks, the Shareaholic Publishing Tool, is also pretty damn fast and takes very little time to load.

I’m trying to gather your feedback and views on why Shareaholic is/isn’t the preferred choice among users. Could you please leave behind your feedback and suggestions so we may improve our products?

    Thank you so much!

For me it is the non-functionality aspects that made me lose SexyBookmarks on most sites I had it on:
    – First every time I updated I needed to make the dirs writable (again). (I think that is fixed now)
    – I still have to re-save options after every update
    – There are too many updates, especially regarding previous points
    – Now the latest update puts a huge shareaholic FF plugin spam banner across the admin screen! That was the final drop.

    Hope this helps.

    Not really- it’s off topic.

Thanks! I hope to test drive AddToAny today.

AddToAny is the new winner for me. It plays nice with W3 Total Cache and scores from Page Speed and Yslow improved on all 3 sites over sexybookmarks. With the exception of the lack of a counter for twitter, I like the look and functionality.

Site 1: Yslow score increased from B/89 to A/94. Page Speed from 97 to 98.

Site 2: Yslow score increased from B/89 to A/91. Page Speed from 95 to 97.

Site 3: Yslow score increased from B/82 to B/87. Page Speed from 94 to 96.

I do miss the counter for the twitter button, but maybe there’s another way to see how many tweets I’m getting?

Thanks for the data – just what I was looking for.

Albeit it would sure be sweet if this was relatively easy for a non-coder to integrate into WP (no Java!) – just HTML/CSS:
