  • If you go to your Dashboard and then go to Appearance > Theme Options > Social Links, you’ll see the options to add various social media networks.

I am running the most current version of wordpress and version 1.2.7 of your theme.

On another note, is it safe to upload the most current version of the theme (2.0.8)? Will it override any customizations I have done?

    Thanks a bunch!

    Stephen,

What you mentioned is for the “follow box” on the upper left below the header. What I am talking about is this https://screencast.com/t/ukdGXyGYfMr

Updating a theme will override any customizations you’ve made to the theme. If you want to customize a theme, you should either install a custom CSS plugin or create a child theme.

Sorry, my mistake. Judging from that screenshot, it looks like it could be the Sharebar plugin, but I’m not 100% sure.

Same here. Can’t find where to activate them.

    Hi Brandon,

The theme version available on www.ads-software.com does not have sharing buttons built-in as it is seen as plugin territory, so the feature had to be taken out in order for the theme to be accepted.

Download from here and it will be automatically included and activated.

    Yup, should be safe.

How to upload it – You can do one of the following:

    – Delete the current theme in admin panel, upload the new zip file via admin, activate it
    – Delete the current theme folder via ftp and upload the new one
    – Change the old theme folder name to eg. theme-old via FTP, then upload the new zip via admin

Your admin panel settings will be saved, so you don’t have to worry about them. You may need to press save once in Theme Options for the settings to be re-added.

    Hi Alex

Thanks for the fantastic theme, as I embark on my first website creation, I have found your template very easy to use.

One question though, how do I add the social media buttons to the “Follow Me” section in the top left hand corner? I have downloaded the zip file as you outline in your posts above but still don’t seem to be able to add the social media buttons.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Kind Regards

    Dan

To add social media buttons to the “Follow Me” section, use the instructions I posted in my very first post in this thread.

    Hi Stephen

I tried this but it still doesn’t work… I have added links for Facebook and Twitter but nothing appears in the “Follow Me” box…

I have completed the form as follows:

    Title: Facebook

    Icon Name: fa-

    Link: https://www.facebook.com/dancottrelluk

    Icon Colour: BLANK

    Am I doing something wrong?

@dancottrell.com – then please start your own thread – this one is marked resolved.

The social share buttons just randomly disappeared on me after the last wordpress update.

    Any help?

    Hi Alex

You have created a superb theme. I loved every aspect of this theme and mainly the use of Fontawesome.

Meanwhile I have a query. Can we make these social share buttons to a floating one ?
