    Hello,

One of our site administrators is having issues using the social share buttons in Google Chrome for macOS. When they click/tap on the buttons nothing happens. No windows are launched and no Jetpack related errors are displayed in developer tools console.

These issues do not occur every time they try and use the tools, but do happen more often than not. The most effective solution for them is to refresh the post page multiple times in a row. This usually fixes the bug and allows them to use the share tools.

No other administrators or general site users are reporting this type of issue.

WordPress and Jetpack are both up to date.

    Any ideas?

    Hello, there.

I’ve went to this link, as you noted:

    https://www.todayville.com/edmonton/parkland-rcmp-serious-crime-unit-assists-with-the-arrest-of-homicide-suspect/

I was able to use the social share buttons as expected on Chrome Version 87.0.4280.88 on my Mac (Catalina 10.15.7 – 19H2).

I tried refreshing five times, and everything was working as expected each of those times as well.

Since it’s only this user reporting it, there’s a high change that there might be something stubborn stuck in his Chrome’s cache or possibly their extensions, if they have any installed. You’ll want to encourage them to dump their browser’s cache and reboot to see if that helps any. Otherwise, it’s likely something else happening on their side (especially if everything works normally from Firefox or Safari).

Please let us know if you have any other questions!

    Hello,

    Thanks for the reply.

The individual has tried clearing cache, but that did not resolve the issue. They also do not have Chrome extensions installed.

Not sure if their installation of Chrome is buggy or not. I will ask them to re-install Chrome and see if that resolves the intermittent issues.

    Cheers,
