Social Type Website

  • Hello,

    I’m using a social type website. What is the best setup options for my website please?

    I’m really confused on setting up my firewall because a while ago, I tried going to my admin login page and it blocked me unexpectedly. Why is that? This is the issue that I don’t want my members to be automatically blocked in the frontend like that.

    Please advice!

  • Hello Jed,
    There are two things you need to take care about to avoid locking out users from your website by mistake:
    – Make sure Wordfence is detecting users IPs correctly by choosing the right option for “How does Wordfence get IPs” in (Wordfence > Options). You can verify that by visiting your website in a separate browser window (while you are not logged in), and make sure your IP address appears correctly in the “Live Traffic” log.

    – Keep the default settings for “Login Security Options” at (Wordfence > Options) and avoid using other plugins handling the login function at the same time, you can re-configure these options if needed after making sure everything is working fine.

    P.S. just in case you locked out yourself by mistake, this guide would be helpful.
