Social Web HTTP Status 500 Error

    I’ve installed ShareThis on my site, and the email component works perfectly, but the social web part doesn’t. Whenever I click on any of the social web options, I get the following error:

    HTTP Status 500- The hostname/location are required either from Referer: or from parameters

type Status report

message The hostname/location are required either from Referer: or from parameters

description The server encountered an internal error (The hostname/location are required either from Referer: or from parameters) that prevented it from fulfilling this request.
Apache Tomcat/5.5.15

    I am using ShareThis 1.5.1, and have manually inserted it. I tried it with auto and it still threw the same error.

    Any suggestions?

    I saw the same thing a few weeks ago. It seemed to be a problem on ShareThis’ end related to the statistics-collecting server that the social web link request passes through. It was fixed shortly after I noticed it and ShareThis tech support couldn’t offer any reasons for the issue, as their logs showed no irregularities.

    Are you still encountering this issue? If so you may want to list the exact time that you noticed it in order to help them track down a cause.
