• Hi all. I’m hoping I’m posting in the right place with this: a client of mine, a dental supply lab, would to link up their WordPress website to their internal case management software Labtrac, so that their clients can submit cases and orders via the website that will be automatically entered into their Labtrac database as orders are placed. They would like order tracking functionality within the site as well.

As a web designer I’m handy with coding site designs but have minimal development skills. I’m told they are going to be brining in some folks from Labtrac to work on this, so I’m assuming they’ll tell me if I need to hire someone for integrating their database into the WordPress installation. At any rate, my question is this: has anyone out there done something like this with WordPress? If so what was required and how was it done? Thanks in advance for any and all replies. ??

I dunno if you’d so much integrate it as make a matching theme, to be honest, since true integration would mean the users have accounts on the WordPress site, and I don’t think you’d actually WANT that.

Hi there, Ipstenu. Thanks for the reply. No, we don’t want that at all. We do want clients to be able to log-in to the site, but not as WordPress users. When you suggest creating a matching theme, do you mean duplicating the design outside of WordPress and connecting that site to their case management database?

    Exactly ??

I do that on a site, where there’s a wiki, a gallery and WordPress. Everyone is a member on WP, but no one is a member on the wiki or gallery. The sites look cohesive, but the look is all that’s there. No inter-related code except CSS.

Ah, nice! That’s good to know, I wasn’t quite sure about the best way to get this done, so this sounds like the way to go! Mind if I have a look at your site to get a bit of a feel for it?
