Could wp-multisite possibly be run across different databases? I mean I know it’s possible but could it be done as to help fix some of the current multisite problems?

I’m thinking maybe it could help the cross platform issues, as well as operation?

I am just thinking if you could possibly run a multisite network with 1,000,000 sites, it would all be in the same database. But would that be ideal if the power is behind that 1 database? Or is that just way over any configuration?? And so then possibly it would need to be put into separate databases as a solution?

    Thank you!

You CAN, but you don’t need to.

I have a Multisite with 10 sites. One DB works fine.

Honestly, the hyperDB/SharDB solutions are meant for people with HUNDREDS of sites.

When you get there, you can do it then.

That’s where I’m trying to go, just trying to resolve a few issues first. Sorry for the other posting, I was trying to organize for multisite developers because I thought some issues were tied together

    Thanks

No, all you’re doing is making everything more complicated before you’re equipped to deal with it. Trust us ?? You do not need this yet.

I need it for testing. Or to find someone who knows a little about it to share some knowledge.

I’ve spent about 3 weeks searching and asking questions everywhere but this forum starting out, so I started posting them here as I come across them

Then I suggest you create a LOCAL site (use DesktopServer or VVV or something localhostish) and build out a fake network of this size to experiment with.

Could you resolve this post and allow me to repost this where the other one was so that people may see it under the plugin support and be able to answer any questions? Thanks

On the right, under About this Topic, you’ll see This topic is. Choose resolved and click on change. ??

Before resolving this I would like to add to it.

I did an add of the plugin WP-symposium. The plugin seems to help fix my avatar problem, the combined profile info is really not an issue. However if I want to run secret sites within my network, it could be.

As far as the avatar issue, it is not fully resolved because I cannot install it to my big site yet. But on a new site install, I installed themex1 and themex2 and it works to combine the avatar, while without Symposium I upload the avatar twice.

On my other install I have more problems as I use themex1, themex2 and themex3, and also another install of themex1 as well, where when I save an avatar to one site, it erases the avatar on another in some cases, so I still only have 3 of 4 uploaded and cannot upload all 4
