Currently the sidebar containing product filters moves to the bottom of the page on mobile, below all the products, which isn’t useful or user friendly.

My theme developer has told me how to move the sidebar to above the content, but with a long list of of filters it pushes all product down and doesn’t look good.

Does anyone have a good solution? I had thought it would good if the filters could be inside a container – whether it is a slide out tab, a modal / pop up button, or any other container, but haven’t found a good way to do it yet.

    Hi there,

I had thought it would good if the filters could be inside a container – whether it is a slide out tab, a modal / pop up button, or any other container, but haven’t found a good way to do it yet.

What you described would be possible with either a plugin or customization. I’d suggest looking into our Plugins Directory: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/ for a plugin that could meet your needs. I did a search and found this one that could possibly help: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/off-canvas-sidebars/. If you do try it, please note that support for the plugin can be found here: https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/off-canvas-sidebars/

If you’d like to hire someone to help with customizing this feature, I’d suggest having a look at our Customizations section https://woocommerce.com/customizations/.

Meanwhile, I’m going to leave this thread open for a while so others can chime in as they might have better ideas.

@ehmarketing Please follow the installation instructions if you want to try the plugin: https://github.com/JoryHogeveen/off-canvas-sidebars/wiki/Theme-setup

@thup90 Thanks for bringing up Off-Canvas Sidebars!

    Thanks @keraweb

I downloaded the plugin and had a quick look at the instructions but haven’t set it up completely yet or had time sussing it out.

As a novice I think this plugin is probably a bit out of my ability so I’ll persevere with it slowly, or enlist some help from someone with good php skills. I’ll read any documentation and guides and get back to you when I’m stuck!

    Thanks again

    Hi @keraweb

My theme The7 support have just helped me to insert the code below the body and above the footer, according to your setup instructions.

My theme has a slide out menu on mobile already, and now this menu looks greyed out and doesnt work correctly. Should your plugin work alongside existing slide out functionality?

    Many thanks

    Hi @ehmarketing
That is entirely depending on the theme. OCS adds an extra wrapper around the whole website so it can move it once a sidebar is activated. This might interfere with your theme.
You could try to enable legacy CSS mode (see plugin settings at the bottom).

    Cheers, Jory
