I was having a HELL of a time trying to log in to my site through the WordPress log in page so I went searching Google about how to do it.

I found a thread in this support section of www.ads-software.com which showed up in the results. I read the replies and they all seemed to be written by SuperGeek coders and were way to complicated for me.

I actually figured out a lot easier way to get it done so I thought I’d drop it in here for anyone who might be having similar frustrations with BlueHost trying to hold you hostage! (They’re not actually that bad.)

    So, what to do;

    1) Log into your BlueHost account as normal.

    2) Log into your website via either the “WORDPRESS” button on the BlueHost Homepage:

    – OR –

Through the “My Sites” tab and hovering over your website and clicking the “Log into WordPress” button.

    3) Then when you are in the WordPress Dashboard for your website, hover your cursor over the “Howdy, {username}” message in the top right hand corner of the page which brings a drop down menu.

    4) In the drop down menu click on the “Edit My Profile” selection.

    5) Scrolling down that page there is a selection titled, “Account Management”, with a sub-heading, “New Password”, and a button, “Generate Password”. Click the “Generate Password”, button.

    6) When you click the “Generate Password”, button…..BE CAREFUL NOT TO CONTINUE. You must copy the generated password and copy it somewhere for safekeeping.

    7) Once you have copied that new password and recorded it somewhere safe for future reference, scroll to the bottom of the page and click the, “Update Profile”, button.

AND VIOLA! You can now log in through both BlueHost AND the WordPress Admin page (wp-admin).

Way “TOO” complicated for me. I HATE making spelling mistakes like that. It’s one of those things that drives me crazy when I read other people who have done it and now I’ve done it! Grrrrrrr!

    My apologies.

Thank you SO MUCH for this, I was totally locked out in a bluehost circle.

You’re very welcome. I’m glad it helped you out. All the best.

    @cashtrafficker thanks for this post!

However I’ve tried using this method, as well as adding a new admin (within the Bluehost Word Press environment), but I cannot login to wordpress.com either way.

WP.com also does not recognize the email I added to the new admin account.

So now I’m wondering how long it takes Bluehost and WordPress to sync info. Did you wait any time before trying to log in?

    Thanks!

    Hi @claritylc,

No I didn’t have to wait any time at all.

I noticed you were talking about WordPress. “COM”

This solution is only for accessing your WordPress. “ORG” dashboard for your website.

    Bluehost websites use www.ads-software.com

Just google the difference between www.ads-software.com and WordPress.com and there will be some videos and articles that explain the difference between the two.

    Keep working through the problem.

Try not to get TOO frustrated. That’s very difficult! I know! Hahaha!

Google and a whole lot of persistence are always your friends.

    Keep persisting and good luck.

    All the best.

Thank you for that really speedy reply, @cashtrafficker !

And thanks for helping clear up my confusion about the two domains … alas my login didn’t work on .org either.

I’ve tried multiple accounts and resetting PWs.

You totally nailed my mood: FRUSTRATED.

Any other suggestions? If I have to call for support, do you know if this is a WP or BH issue?

    Thanks much.

    Hi @claritylc,

No problem for the reply. For some reason I woke up early here in Australia. 2a.m.

Maybe it was to help you a little? Who knows? Haha.

I would contact Bluehost support for this problem. They are always very helpful.

It sounds like you might have a real hodgepodge going on there, with new users added and passwords etc.

They will be able to look at it from inside your account to see what’s going on whereas I don’t have that advantage.

But rest assured, I’m sure it will get resolved.

    Catch you later.

    Take care.

@cashtrafficker perhaps it was meant to be because you did help, thanks again v. much.

Called BH, got someone who made a few things clear, and I’m over *that* hump, at least.

    Marching on…

Thanks for the tip!!! Saved me some trouble
