    Hello,

First of all, amazing plugin! Kudos!

I use it to translate phrases and when I’m done, I download the .po and .mo files and deactive the plugin.

I then put the files in wp-content/languages/woocommerce and the everything shows up translated.

Not until recently, when two new phrases showed up in the cart:

    Save %s
    %d left in stock

I translated them and the plugin showed the translations. When I deactivated the plugin and uploaded them to the customs folder, this time they didn’t show up translated.

I repeated this to another site and the issue occured again – the phrases are not translated when put in that folder.

Any clue how to make them show up translated?

    Will be most grateful ??

This plugin must be enabled to use the custom folder. This is the first point covered in the FAQ: Why don’t translations load from the custom folder?

Yes, but I have other translations that load from the custom folder when the plugin is not enabled.

Only these two phrases don’t show up. Which is a very strange case.

I’m curious how this is possible, when my plugin is not running.

I use it to translate WooCommerce and turn it off when it’s not needed. The updated translations of WC I keep in wpcontent/languages/woocommerce and they always load.

Just this time for these 2 cart phrases they don’t load.

Ah yes.  wpcontent/languages/woocommerce is not Loco Translate’s custom directory. It is WooCommerce’s custom directory. I understand now.

So, with Loco Translate disabled, I fail to see how the issue is related to Loco Translate. If these strings are present in the MO file, then my plugin has done its job.

Most likely, the MO files are just not being consulted for those strings. This can happen for any number of reasons, commonly when they are stored, or cached somewhere else, like in plugin settings. See Watch out for theme/plugin settings.

However, you say they work in the common/system location. This I can’t explain.

I will turn to WC support in this case. Thanks a lot for clarifying!

Just one more question – does LocoTranslate create any requests on the front end of the website if it’s enabled?

I assume you mean database queries? No it doesn’t.

It does very little outside of its admin pages. See https://localise.biz/wordpress/plugin/intro#custom
