    Hello all,

I’m new to WordPress, but have used other CMSs for years.

I’ve got a WP 3.7.1 site up and running, and I’ve applied the VideoCraft premium theme.

    I also have Buddypress installed.

However, even with one of the default themes and no 3rd party plugins, some of the default pages are simply empty. Notably, My Account, and Manage.

When I go to Edit any page, there is no content, so I have to assume these are supposed to be dynamically generated pages.

So how do I get them to “work”?

    Thanks!

  • Have you tried deactivating ALL plugins and switching to a default theme?

A link to your site in that state would be relevant.

    Thanks for the reply.

I did indeed try that. Here it is in that state (2013 theme, no third party plugins activated): https://sprue.us

Are the “missing” pages visible in the Dashboard under Pages?

You said they are default pages – do you mean default to your theme? In which case, that’s a commercial theme, so probably not much we can help with.

What if you create a new page?

I believe the My Account page is part of WordPress. That’s the main one I’m concerned with.

The page is visible in the dashboard under Pages, it’s always been there, to my knowledge. It seemed to be a page that was created by default when WP was installed.

I’m new to WP so I’m not really sure.

I can create a new page, but have no idea what to put in it to show someone their account/profile.

I believe the My Account page is part of WordPress.

Nope. That’s not part of WordPress by default.

No, there’s no “My Account” page from WP – looks like that’s part of that theme. Has this theme ever worked completely? Does it work if you switch back to the theme with no plugins active?

Or does BuddyPress create this My Account page when it is first activated?

I’m re-installing a separate instance of WP to see what’s going on.

    Thanks for the replies folks.

I think My Account and Manage were setup by a previous theme I had tried, and didn’t realize it. WP is very odd to me, as compared to other CMSs I’ve used over the years, still trying to figure it out.

So this would be a false alarm, it would seem. Sorry folks.

I guess, if it’s ok to ask here, I need to know how I can create a page where users can view/edit their profiles. Buddypress is allows this, but there is no dynamic link/menu item provided by it other than going to Members then clicking on your own username. There has to be a better way.

    Thanks.
