    Hi there,

First of all thank you for your great plugin that works well, it seems. Since I’m quite a newbie with all the cookies stuff and GDPR, I’d have some questions:

When Complianz makes a cookie scan it detects Instagram on the website ( I think it’s because I have put an icon to en external link in my footer to follow my page there). Beside that I have also a facebook icon and pinterest icon for the same purpose, just links. But these are all just links to an external page. Are these considered as “Marketing cookies” that I need the consent for? I have integrated in my page also the social share buttons via Shariff Wrapper that in itself is already GDPR compliant and doesn’t store cookies. So from my point of view, in this case, do I need a consent for Marketing cookies? Otherwise I do not use anything else that I would know of that would use the category “Marketing”. Maybe I’m missing something… But the category still appears in the banner.. (unticked of course.)

Do I need to integrate somehow these in the cookie policy or leave it that way?

    Thank you very much,

    Kind regards,

    Barbara

    Hi Barbara,

Thank you for using Complianz, we’re happy to help.

Complianz looks in your browser for used first-party cookies and scans pages of your site for known tracking scripts or URL’s or services which are known to place third-party cookies.

You don’t need to ask for consent for Facebook cookies if your site does not utilize them, because you only place a link to a page on Facebook.

If your site does not use any cookies or scripts that require consent, you don’t need to ask for consent. I suspect that you have indicated somewhere that your site does use third party services, for example Google Fonts or Recaptcha.

Would you mind sharing a link to your site so I can have a look at used third parties? You can do this privately under ‘the page I need help with’.

    Kind regards,
    Leon

    Hi Leon,

Thank so much for your quick reply.

I’m hosting Google fonts locally and I do not use Recaptcha. So for the marketing category I don’t understand why it is showing.

I will put the link of my page uunder the first post if I understand this correctly (but it’s in the maintenance mode), hope that doesn’t bother.

Thank you very much for all your help!!

    Regards,

    Barbara

    Hi @barbaree,

From what I can see now your site indeed isn’t using Marketing or Tracking cookies. I would advise you to run the scan again when you’re transferring the site to a live environment. Considering that your site contains a webshop, I can imagine that the site will be using marketing cookies at some point.

    Kind regards,
    Leon

    Hi Leon,

Thank you I will do that.

I don’t know what the future will bring, but anyway I wanted to be sure for now, since I’m writing my privacy policy and the “instagram” popped out so I was a bit concerned and how is that possible… I will do that when going live and see,and maybe get back to you in case if the same problem persists..

    I’ll close the topic now,
Thanks again for your prompt reply,

    Regards,

    Barbara
