My two most popular image proportions and orientations work fine. But some other portrait images are being stretched or squashed out of proportion. This was not the case till I updated to the latest version of the plugin. Any ideas? Examples on the page I have linked above.

  • hello, it seems that I have the same problem with some images in a galerie like Virtualtopia has.

The page with that problem is:

Beitrag bearbeiten ??Felsenrunde“: L?wenstarke Aussichten über dem Filstal“ ? kalinka — WordPress (kalinka-reisenundmehr.de)

please watch the two images with single flowers – they are both streched

@sling22: The link you posted is your editor and not the final post.

Otherwise I don’t have any clue what’s wrong here. The only thing I can see, the images in question are identified to be 2000×1500 pixels – but in fact is is 1500×2000 pixels. It seems that the image was at least once stored with 90° rotation. However, I checked the image in my local test setup and did not see any issues.

You can try to disable “Cache image information in transients” just to check, if the image meta data is really detected wrong or if it is just some old cache data. And don’t forget to enable the option after the test since disabling the cache will likely make your site slower.

sorry, this is the correct link:

    https://kalinka-reisenundmehr.de/

I took the pictures in 16:9, 4:3 an 1:1 and imported them just origin without any changes. Shouldn’t I do it like this? In the past I work similar but didn’t see this problem

No, pictures with 16:9 are totally fine! The question is, if the cache contains wrong data. That’s why I asked to disable the option “Cache image information in transients” in the settings of Lightbox with PhotoSwipe to make sure, that real image data is used and not some old cached information.

Also see here – there are also portrait format images which are displayed fine: https://arnowelzel.de/geburtstagsreise-2013

I just recognize that I have this problem with stetched images with all pictures which were taken in Portrait format. Think it doesn’t matter which aspect ratio was used? So is this a problem of the plugin or wordpress?

    Again:

Please turn off “Cache image information in transients…”?(“Bildinformationen in Transienten zwischenspeichern…”) and tell me if the images are corrent then – thank you!

could you please tell me where I could modify this setting (if possible in german). Thank you

    Plugin Author Arno Welzel

    (@awelzel)

    “Einstellungen -> Lightbox mit PhotoSwipe”

    or:

    YOURWEBSITE-URL/wp-admin/options-general.php?page=lightbox-photoswipe

okay, did it but still wrong. But: I could solve the problem by disabling this option:
Links zu skalierten Bildern korrigieren (z.B. “image-scaled.jpg” statt “image.jpg”)

Could I leave this forever or is there any disadvantage?

Thanks for the feedback. Indeed this is a bug in the plugin which got introduced with version 5.2.4.

Version 5.2.5 will fix this. You can turn on “Links zu skalierten Bildern korrigieren” again with that release. It will make sure that your visitors will see the original size images and not the smaller ones which are scaled down by WordPress after uploading.

Don’t forget to enable the cache option again!
