Some information regarding upgrade issues

    Hey everyone. So a few users have been experiencing upgrade issues with the new version of Easing Slider “Lite”. What appears to be happening is that the plugin is de-activating after the upgrade process. Once activated, the plugin appears to be reset and users appear lost there slideshow settings.

    This was occurring because the main plugin file was changed from ‘easingslider.php’, to ‘easingsliderlite.php’. This small detail was actually causing no problems at all on my own WordPress installs, of which I tested 7. However, for some users this caused the plugin to automatically deactivate, thus hampering the upgrade process that would import your old slides; hence the impression that everything had been deleted.

    v2.0.1.3 of Easing Slider “Lite” has revoked this automatic process that was subject to failing. Instead, we’ve chosen to go with a manual process in the form of a button on the ‘Edit Slideshow’ page. Once you’ve upgraded from v1.2.1, you’ll need to press this button to import your own settings. It’s not ideal, but it works.

    I’ve taken a quick screencast below of myself following the upgrade procedure. It’s actually very simple, and very familiar. Again, just be sure you import your old settings afterwards. That’s it.

    On a side note, Easing Slider “Lite” v2.x doesn’t actually delete your old settings, so if you decide to downgrade back to v1.2.1 your old settings will remain in-tact, as they were before.

    Lastly, for most users the upgrade process has actually been going fine, so don’t be alarmed or deterred from upgrading if you haven’t already. Although I’m unaware of the reason why the upgrade procedure seems to differ for some WordPress installs (probably due to their hosting setup), it looks like it has (hopefully) been resolved in taking an alternative approach.

    I’m not seeing any problems in any browser. Tried Safari, Firefox and Chrome.

    Which version of Safari are you using? Have you tried deleting browser cache?

    Yes, I even tried on Safari in ios on iphone. When picture slides and stops before other one comes, the text and whole page blinks.

    I am using the newest version. There is no problem in Firefox, this is true. Are You using Safari under OSX or Windows?

    I’m using Safari in OSX. I’m not seeing the problem on it, but I do see it on my iPhone using iOS 6.

    Could you start a separate support topic? We can try and sort it out there ??

    Don’t worry, we can deal with the issue here.

    Can you try following this advise for me? It’s taken from the FAQ’s page.

    Firstly, disable all of the other plugins you have activated (or as many as you can). If the issue persists, with just Easing Slider “Lite” active, it is more than likely a conflict with the theme.

    If the slideshow works when it is the only plugin active, you’re experiencing a plugin conflict. Carefully enable each plugin, one-by-one, checking the slideshow each time. Keep doing this until you activate the plugin that breaks the slideshow.

    After you’ve taken these two steps, make a support topic and we will get back to you as soon as you can. Otherwise, feel free to contact the developer(s) of the conflict plugin/theme also. They should also be able to provide you with assistance.

    I could do this for about 3 hours. There was no issue in previous version at all. I will back for about 3 hours. Thanks.

    It could just be a conflict with other plugin that wasn’t happening in the older version. The versions are very different, nothing is the same. v2.0 is much more modern and better coded.

    Give it a try and let me know how it goes.

    I disabled mostly plugins, I don’t have much of it BTW, and nothing happened. The issue exists.

    I’m not really sure there is anything I can do then. There looks to be a conflict with your theme. I see it has included some animation scripts that might be causing some problems. Very unusual.

    Have you tried using the “Fade” transition? Does it happen?

    No, I have not tried fade one.
    With theme? But I don’t change anything in theme since last working version…

    It is possible that the new CSS3 transitions are the cause. Your theme looks to be conflicting with them. It could be CSS or Javascript related, I’m not sure.

    Try using the “Fade” transition. If it works, then this is the case.

    The old version didn’t use CSS3 transitions because at the time it was developed they weren’t mainstream. CSS3 transitions are now used (if possible) instead of Javascript as they are much less intense on your computers CPU and they are much smoother, especially on mobile devices. The older script was not made for mobile at all.

    When I chenge it to fading efect – there is no issue. Any thoughts?

    Did the IE7/IE8 fix kill IE9, or is it just me?
