Some of our members can't stay logged in

  • I’m having an odd problem in that some, not all, of our members can’t stay logged in.

    They’re able to log in, but the minute they try to go anywhere other than the main landing page for our members, they’re automatically logged out. This has just started happening in the past few months and it doesn’t happen with everyone. Today, the member I am trying to help is on a MAC and uses Safari. I’m not sure what the other members having the same problem were using for a browser.

    but the minute they click on anything, this is the page they direct to: https://celtichearts.org/members/wp-login.php?loggedout=true

    There were several plugins for keeping part of the site for members only and I did deactivate them all at first and then reactivated the Absolute Privacy plugin after figuring out that nothing made a difference. The members are still directed to the logout page.

    I thought those having problems might have a cookie that’s blocked, but I wouldn’t know how to find out which one. The ones labeled for our site are not blocked by anyone.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated. At this point, I’m ready to uninstall everything, scrap the template I inherited since it doesn’t always seem to resolve right and start over, but it’s a big job and I’d like to save that as a last resort.

  • Have you tried:
    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    I did, and the member I’m working with now how is having the problem just tried again. Same thing.

    Oddly enough, I don’t know how the ‘professional’ who did the blog before me has somehow set it up so I’m still seeing her “custom template” until I’m signed in. THEN I see the Twenty Eleven template. But the member still can’t sign in with the Twenty Eleven template showing.
