Some requests for the widget

  • Hello All,

    I would like to make the docs widget a little more informational.

    Right now, it just shows the link/name of the document, and the date last updated.

    I would like to be able to add the following:

    • Small thumbnail of the doc creator’s avatar

      • Or, name of the doc creator

    • Date of original post.

    Ideally these would be configurable items.

    Hello, those are good ideas though I doubt that the widget will be updated as blocks are taking over the WordPress world. You should feel free to add your own version of the widget. Create a new plugin and copy buddypress-docs/includes/class-wp-widget-recent-docs.php over to it, change the name and add your custom pieces to the output!

    You can find the code for outputting avatars and such in the BP Docs templates directory.

    Definitely doable, and a good introduction to coding for WordPress if you haven’t taken the plunge yet.
