Some site auto update

OK so why do some websites automatically update themselves (for minor versions) but others websites don’t for the same update? I have to login and manually click the update button.

First place to check would be wp-config.php to see if they are not configured that way.

Bingo!

I compared the wp-config.php of 2 of my websites.

The website that automatically updates itself had no mention of auto update anywhere

Whereas the website that does not automatically update itself had this line of code

define( 'AUTOMATIC_UPDATER_DISABLED', true );

OK so how did that line of code find its way into my wp-config.php file? because I never put it there!

Also, just to add, if the WordPress versions aren’t the same, ex: if one is running 3.xx, and one is running 4.xx , then they wouldn’t update together.

All my sites are 4.2.2 or 4.2.3

I will explicitly set them all to auto update.
