Somebody finally did it! I've Been waiting for something like this..

    Haha ! I understand your feelings, I was in the same situation (apart that I didn’t look for custom dev).
    All that was needed was to find the right library to decode the waveform (rather thant reinventing the wheel) and rebuild things arround it to make it works in a WordPress environement (initialization via HTML, etc..).
    What particulary interesting le with wavesurfer-js was it’s great modularity, and it’s split waveform preview ??
