I wish there was a way for me to upload an image here to show what my issue is. Unfortunately there is not, so here goes.

On my homepage I have a grid with 3 columns. The images are fine, the author is fine, but the leading words are all screwed up. They are in Latin like this…

“…Amet ipsum id sem quis mauris porttitor conse quat id vitae dolor. Phasellus ligula velit molestie rhoncus ullamcorper mauris ultricies mi at pharetra lorem…”

This is word for word verbatim from the default snippet text in the Yoast plug in.

I then went and changed it to simple english – saved – and cleared cache. Same result.

When you click on the link, the text is fine (english) but what comes through to the homepage is a mess. Would LOVE to see what the solution is to this one.

And here is the internal of the page to change the snippet BEFORE I make it english. Regardless, it still displays in Latin on the homepage.

Finally hired a freelancer to fix the issue. Turns out that the excerpt and the snippet are not working together. Enabled the excerpt function and corrected it from there and the issue is now gone.

    Thanks for the quick response…

    HI @blitzburgh,

We are glad the issue is solved now. You’re right. The meta description provided in the Yoast snippet editor isn’t supposed to be used as excerpt of your posts.

This great post explains more about meta descriptions: https://yoast.com/meta-descriptions/
