Something overriding "display name publicly as"

One of my users has selected her first name to “display publicly as” but something is overriding her selection and displaying her full name instead. I have purged all caches and tried changing it manually but it continues to show the full name. Works fine for all other users.

Any ideas? She cannot have her full name displayed.
