• Looks nice on the dev’s website. So nice that I was ready to invest time in custom page templates.

However, it’s nothing like the demo in the real life. No way to set up the full screen parallax image, as seen on the developer’s website. No way to set up the frontpage portfolio, as seen both on the developer’s website AND on the screenshot here. Even though there is some unintelligible setting in the customizer, which does nothing. Not documented at all, as in, not a single word of explanation anywhere.

All in all, not worth the bother. If the dev thinks this piece of useless, albeit free, garbage will help him to sell a $225 theme… well, you decide for yourself.

UPD: To function as advertised, the theme needs Jetpack installed and connected. The dev is forcing you to use a particular plugin to get at least something from the theme and make account with wp.com you probably don’t even need. This looks worse by the minute. Not recommended.

  • Hey Jarne and sorry to hear about this,

If there are any misunderstandings, I would love to give you a helping hand.

After you create an empty page with the “Portfolio” template and assign it as Front page on Dashboard → Settings → Reading (screenshot), then the “Featured Image” assigned to that page will be used for the full screen parallax image.

Let me know how it works.

    Regards,

There’s no “Portfolio” template, only “Split” template. Which is something different.

    Hey again!

Can you please check if the Jetpack plugin is connected and the Portfolio custom post type is activated? Upon that, the “Portfolio” page will appear.

You can check if they are enabled by going to Settings → Writing → Portfolio Projects.

Let me know how it works,
    George

Like I said, the theme is not documented at all. How should a user guess that they would need some particular plugin to make it work as advertised? Especially when it’s something as controversial as Jetpack, where one has to create an account on wordpress.com to make the plugin work. And especially when the theme does nothing without it!

To assume that all people will have Jetpack installed and connected by default is rather arrogant, don’t you think?

Thanks for the advice, but no. Unless you offer a way to get advertised functionality without Jetpack. For crying out loud! How did they even let this theme pass?!

Thanks again for your feedback! We are already starting to write the documentation and it will be available on https://pixelgrade.com/noah-lite-documentation/

Version 1.0.4 will come with many improvements for the user onboarding.
